Every time I see Vava Suresh with a snake, I see a man who's dedicated his whole life to engaging with these creatures in petting them, tracking them or catching them. But the thing that interested me most was his near-perfect instinct while playing with them. He toys with them like he has some kind of call to it. A man committed to touching perfection in his area of expertise. Always trying to be the confident showman who's got a clear idea about his trade and a faultless expert at the job. I always admired his play in between life and death and even rooted for him for a while.
One other person I know who has this kind of weird connection to snakes would be my dad. He almost considers snakes as his enemies or something. I still remember a terrifying scene of my childhood. My dad was home, at the table having lunch after work as mum runs toward him screaming " there's a snake on the other side of the fence". He stopped eating and asked me to bring his Chooral stick. I rushed inside and brought it to him as fast as I could. He went near the fence, widened his arm with the Chooral stick and gave it a light slap on the head. It was dead. Not even a movement. I have seen him killing countless snakes from thereafter.
Some people have certain ways with certain things. No one can change that. Advising Vava to be careful and to take adequate gear is not gonna do I guess. That will only change those who fear death. And he's not afraid of death. He'll be more than happy to die at one job he was perfect at or achieve perfection if there's such a thing. People need heroes and heroism to celebrate regardless of the reason. If you don't enjoy it, stay away from it. Make collective awareness from your comfort zone. That would be the best precaution anyway.
